The Cardiff Blues Celebrity Golf Day at the Vale of Glamorgan Golf Course on August 20th attracted twenty five teams, but the stars of the show were the Cardiff Blues team.
The opportunity to try out the new Wales National Course with Cardiff Blues players, plus celebrities, directors, former Cardiff players was a popular attraction, with over 25 teams taking part.
Following the mammoth round and the delicious barbeque meal, the evening was concluded with a superb after dinner speech by Bob Price, a member of the WEDGES and the presentation of prizes.
The day was a great success, as sponsors and members of the local business community enjoyed a great day out, despite the rigours of a challenging course.
Iestyn Harris comments were testimony to the standard of the course,
I am glad we took the buggy round, it would have been impossible without it.
The Cardiff Blues team Jamie Robinson, Craig Quinell, Iestyn Harris and Nick MacLeod, fought off strong competition from the directors and past players with the final standings, giving them a five point advantage:
1st Cardiff Blues
2nd Office Vision
3rd WEDGES
4th – Abbey National
5th SA Brain & co.
The real character of the Blues players was shown when they returned their first prize to be raffled and help raise more money for the nominated charity, Save a South Wales Child.
The raffle prizes included a framed Cardiff Blues shirt, a limited edition rugby ball donated by Gilbert, champagne, golf bags and Greg Norman leisurewear.
